Will You Be Mine?

Good morning, friends - and welcome back! As you've probably already noticed, I made a few changes to the blog design over the weekend... I hope you guys like the new look! I've also revamped my Facebook fan page and my twitter page with some new designs and features. You can check those out here and here, if the mood strikes!

But on to more lovey-dovey things - now that it's officially February, we finally get to talk Valentine's Day! I adore Valentine's Day - February 14th means boxes of chocolates, pink m'n'm's, fresh bouquets of flowers, hearts and glitter and candy sweethearts... sigh. I love it all. Before I met my husband, I had never had a "traditional" Valentine's Day. He was my first serious relationship, so growing up (and all through high school), Valentine's Day meant a romantic comedy with a group of friends and flowers from my very sweet Dad :) I always had a lot of fun, but when I met Drew... well, my heart was full. And Valentine's Day was just another opportunity for me to tell him how much I cared! Here are a few of the gifts we've exchanged in the past:

From Top Left: I Am Baker Heart Cake / "I Love You" Foam Board Signs
Pink Roses / Fondant Petit Fours
We've had some pretty great times! This year is actually going to be a surprise - Drew is running the show and I am SO excited! But I definitely have a few tricks up my sleeve too... can't wait to share the recap with you guys!

Until then, however, I thought it would be fun to do a roundup of cute Valentine's items that you may want to purchase for your sweetheart (or for yourself!). Let's jump on in!

1. Aerie Lacy Romper
Back in college, I worked for American Eagle (and their pajama store, Aerie) for a little over two years -  and I fell in love with their comfy and sweet sleepwear looks. This romper is a super soft jersey with a few lacy details that keep it the perfect balance of sexy and sweet. And the blush color is universally flattering!

2. I Have Always Known It Was You
This gorgeous and simple Row Boat Press art print is a favorite in our household - I got this for Drew on Valentine's Day of 2011 and we actually used it as part of our wedding decor that summer! It now hangs proudly in our home and makes us smile every day - when you know, you know!

3. Rugged and Manly
I'm a big fan of beautifully made cards (and I've been known to frame my favorites as art!) and this year, the cards from Kate's Paperie have really hit the mark. Having a rugged and manly husband, I usually have to search high and low for a card that tells him how I feel - but this one feels just right!

4. Pink Roses
Special note to any guys who are reading this: it's easy to ace Valentine's Day. Yeah, I said it - it's easy. Just find out what her favorite flower is, and then send her an obscene amount of those flowers (preferably to her office, but home works, too) and hand write the note. I don't care how anti-Valentine's she might be - she will dig it. I promise.

5. Heart Elbow Patch Varsity Sweater
Bold Stripes. Perfect elbow patches. Warm and cozy... what's not to love about this preppy sweater from Delia*s? Pair it with skinny jeans and boots to hit the town with your girls (romantic comedy, anyone?) or throw it over a red shift dress for a fun night out with your guy.

6. Too Too Hot and Valentine
These are my two all-time favorite red polishes - one is a classic red (a la Marilyn Monroe) the other is a deep, vixenish red (think Angelina Jolie). I still haven't decided which one to go with this year, but can you really ever go wrong with red nails?

So, what are your plans for Valentine's Day? Will you be cooking dinner for your better half? Spending a night out with friends? Maybe a first date? (hey, Liz Lemon did it!) I'd love to hear about it!

Until next time, my darlings!

xoxo,

  1. Not only did I really enjoy this post, I LOVE the new look (is that "washi" tape in the banner?). My personal Valentine's Day searches led me to this gem http://www.etsy.com/listing/75104034/ladies-or-mens-love-notes-paper-airplane?ref=sr_gallery_32&ga_search_query=hearts&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_page=7&ga_search_type=handmade

    1. It is washi tape! I wanted something a little more playful for the header...I'm glad you liked it!

And that t-shirt is ADORABLE. Love it. Reminds me of that disney short I posted on Friday :)

Hope your week is starting off awesome!
