Music Mix: January Albums

Hey, friends! Just a quick Friday pop-in to say "Have a fantastic weekend!" This wintry mix we have going on in D.C. is making me want to curl up with a good book and a bag of milk chocolate chips. No judgements, please - I've earned that bag of chips.

And, while I'm curled up with said book, these are the albums I'll be playing on repeat. I hope somewhere on this list you can find the soundtrack of your weekend!

Clockwise from top left:

Lake Street Dive - Lake Street Dive This 2010 album is soulful and sexy - featuring powerhouse vocals and bass lines that just won't quit. Appropriate for a bottle of wine and a rainy evening.

Track to Try: Neighbor's Song (and this live version is just everything.)

The Slackers - The Question This 1998 album is a perfect introduction to one of the best working bands out there - and they just happen to play (really good) ska. Don't know what ska is? Listen and thank me later.

Track to Try: Feed My Girl

Ben Kweller - Sha Sha The obligatory throwback, this 2002 album is sweet and plucky and perfect for Saturday mornings in bed.

Track to Try: Falling (Also, if you've never heard Ben Kweller, listen to Sundress immediately)

Beyoncé - Beyoncé What can I say that hasn't already been said? Just get on the bandwagon already - Queen Bey is waiting.

Track to Try: Flawless (As in: "You wake up, Flawless / Post up, Flawless")

Until next time, my darlings!

Oh, and just one last thing before your weekend - a new podcast episode is up! We're talking 'Teen Wolf'… you can stream it here, friends ;)

  1. Yay, Ben Kweller! Nobody I know knows anything about him, which is a shame since his songs are great.
