Quick Dish: Toblerone Hot Chocolate

I don't know if you guys have heard, but it's kind of cold outside today. Oh, what's that you say? You can't turn on your television without feeling like Eddard Stark is your local newscaster ("Winter is coming!")? Well then - enough with that. Let's get right to today's "Quick Dish" -Toblerone Hot Chocolate.

Yes, you heard that right - a tasty, toffee-laced Toblerone bar melted into liquid form and topped with whipped cream and happiness. Take that, polar vortex!

And I swear I'm not trying to sabotage your New Year's resolutions - it's just too cold out there to eat like a grown up. It's hot chocolate/blanket cuddling/Netflix watching/wool socks and a hat in the house kind of weather. It seems like a natural progression to drink liquid candy bars - right? Right? ……Bueller?

You can see the full recipe below - but don't feel limited by my candy selection. This will work with almost any candy bar... as long as you have some milk and half and half on hand, you're in business! And now that I think about it, a Milky Way Hot Chocolate is sounding pretty delicious right now…

Toblerone Hot Chocolate

1 Toblerone Bar
1/4 Cup Half and Half
2 Cups Whole Milk
Whipped Cream for garnish

Unwrap your Toblerone bar and set aside one triangle to crumble for garnish. Roughly chop the rest of the chocolate and place in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the half and half and stir continuously until chocolate is completely melted (being careful not to let it burn). Reduce heat to medium low and add your milk, whisking until well mixed and frothy (about one minute). If you like it extra chocolate, toss in some cocoa powder or a handful of milk chocolate chips until melted. Pour into two mugs and top with whipped cream and crumbled Toblerone. Drink them both yourself (or share if you're feeling generous!)

Stay warm out there! Until next time, my darlings!

P.S. Guess what, friends? There's a new episode of the podcast up today - if you want to hear my Top 5 New Year's Eve scenes from TV & Film, listen here.

  1. Sometimes you need a good cup of hot chocolate. I would have never thought of making it with Toblerone, but since it's good enough to eat it's good enough to melt into hot chocolate!

  2. Christina - I totally agree! I hope you gave it a shot! :)
